Nominations are now open for the 2021 Te Kaipuoro Taketake Toa | Best Folk Artist.

The world of concerts and festivals changed in 2020, but the Auckland Folk Festival intends to return to the Kumeu Showgrounds in January 2021. The largest folk festival in New Zealand, and one of the oldest in the Southern Hemisphere, brings six stages of exceptional artists from here at home in Aotearoa.

Again we’ll be spoiled for choice as some of the best traditional and contemporary folk musicians from New Zealand come together to showcase this amazing genre, with 2021’s Best Folk Artist tui presented on the Sunday evening

Entry for Best Folk Artist 2021 is open to NZ Folk Artists with recordings released between 1 October 2019 and 30 September 2020.

Entries must be submitted online. To be eligible for judging entries must be submitted to Recorded Music NZ before 5pm on Friday 6th November.

The winner/s will be announced and the Tui trophy presented at the Auckland Folk Festival on the evening of Sunday 31 January 2021.
