Nominations are now open for the 2023 Te Kaipuoro Taketake Toa | Best Folk Artist.

In 2023 Auckland Folk Festival celebrates 50 years!  New Zealand’s largest folk festival is back and better than ever, with 2023 promising a very special occasion as the festival celebrates half a century of togetherness, music and dance.

Performers and audience will come together again at the Kumeu Showgrounds on Auckland Anniversary Weekend, and treated to performances over multiple stages –  with 2023’s Best Folk Artist Tūi presented on the Sunday evening

Entry for Best Folk Artist 2023 is open to NZ Folk Artists with recordings released between 1 October 2021 and 30 September 2022.

Entries must be submitted online. To be eligible for judging entries must be submitted to Recorded Music NZ before 5pm on Monday 7 November.

The winner/s will be announced and the Tui trophy presented at the Auckland Folk Festival on the evening of Sunday 29 January 2023.
